Privacy Policy

AKASAKA INTERNATIONAL LAW, PATENT & ACCOUNTING OFFICE (“AILAW”) will comply with the Law Concerning Protection of Personal Information (“Personal Information Protection Law”) and other related laws and ordinances when handling personal information and make efforts to treat such personal information properly. To this end, AILAW has established the following privacy policy.

1. Acquisition of Personal Information

AILAW shall lawfully and properly acquire personal information only to the extent necessary to achieve the proper purpose of use of such personal information.

2. Purpose of Use of Personal Information

AILAW shall use personal information within the extent necessary to achieve the following purposes that relate to the provision of AILAW’s legal services, recruitment of lawyers and office staff, etc. as well as the management and control of work and employment of lawyers and office staff, etc.

Provision of AILAW’s legal and accounting services

  • (1)Handling legal and accounting matters and sending and receiving communications relating to such matters.
  • (2)Providing information concerning AILAW, its lectures etc., sending letters of greeting, etc. and offering other information related to AILAW’s legal and accounting services.
  • (3)Responding to various inquiries.
  • (4)Performing other business of AILAW in a proper and efficient manner.

Recruiting lawyers and office staff

Personal information acquired for recruiting lawyers and office staff:
Accepting a candidate’s visit to AILAW, sending and receiving communications, conducting the selection process and determining whether to offer a position to a candidate.
Conducting personnel management and providing education and training after recruitment of a candidate.

3. Use of Personal Information for Purposes Other Than Those Stated Above

AILAW shall use personal information only for the purposes stated above and shall not use personal information for any other purpose without the consent of the relevant person except as otherwise provided by laws or ordinances or unless such purpose of use is separately notified or announced.

4. Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

AILAW shall not provide personal information to any third party without the consent of the relevant person except as otherwise provided by laws or ordinances.

5. Sharing of Personal Information

AILAW may share personal information acquired by AILAW with respect to the personal data stated below and use that personal data only to the extent of the purposes stated below.

Names, addresses, contact details, such as phone numbers, and all other personal information items that held by AILAW.

Provision of AILAW’s legal and accounting services

  • (1)Handling legal and accounting matters and sending and receiving communications relating to such legal and accounting matters.
  • (2)Providing information concerning AILAW, its lectures and seminars, etc., sending letters of greeting, etc. and offering other information related to AILAW’s legal and accounting services.
  • (3)Responding to various inquiries.
  • (4)Performing other business of AILAW in a proper and efficient manner.

Recruiting lawyers and office staff

Personal information acquired for recruiting lawyers and office staff
Sending and receiving communications concerning recruitment of lawyers and office staff, conducting the selection process and determining whether to offer a position to a candidate.
Conducting personnel management and providing education and training after recruitment of a candidate.

6. Implementation of Measures for Safe Management of Personal Information

AILAW shall take necessary and proper measures and shall manage such personal information properly in order to prevent leakage, loss or waste of any personal information which AILAW handles. AILAW shall also properly supervise its employees in their handling of personal information and, if AILAW entrusts the handling of personal information to any third party, monitor the entrusted third party so that the entrusted third party properly manages the personal information.

7. Requirement of Disclosure, Amendment to and Suspension of Use of Personal Information

If AILAW is requested from a person to disclose, amend, add to, delete or suspend the use of, cancel or stop providing to any third party or give notice concerning the purpose of use of, his/her personal information held by AILAW pursuant to the Personal Information Protection Law, AILAW shall confirm that the person who made such request is the person who is the subject of the relevant personal information and respond to such request properly in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law. 8. Contact Details for Inquiries

Please contact the personnel of AILAW via the official webpage for any comments, questions, requests for disclosure and other inquiries concerning the treatment of personal information at AILAW. If AILAW receives any complaints concerning the treatment of personal information at AILAW, AILAW shall respond to such complaints properly and immediately.

9. Amendment to this Privacy Policy

AILAW may amend this privacy policy whenever necessary.


Identity Verification

AILAW may carry out confirmation of certain identification matters when newly receiving requests for legal work or receiving money, pursuant to the Rules Concerning Client Identity Verification and Record Preservation, etc. (effectuated on March 1, 2013) of the Japan Federation of Bar Associations. We ask for your kind understanding and cooperation.

For Individuals

Confirmation of name, address and date of birth in the following documents: seal registration certificate, driver’s license, passport, health insurance card, pension handbook and residence card.

For Corporations

  • (1) Confirmation of the name and location of the official headquarters or main office in the commercial registration certificate.
  • (2) Confirmation of the name and position of the representative of the company or agent etc (i.e.business card).
