AI Usage Policy
1. Purpose
Our firm may utilize AI (including generative AI) in certain aspects of our work to provide faster and higher-quality legal services to our clients, subject to the professional judgment of our attorneys. However, AI serves solely as an auxiliary tool, and our firm conducts business with confidentiality, personal information protection, copyright compliance, and accuracy of work product as our top priorities.
2. Scope of Application
This policy applies when attorneys and staff members of our firm use AI in the course of their professional duties.
3. Primary Use Cases for AI
Based on the nature of work and associated risks, our firm may utilize AI in the following scenarios:
- Document summarization, issue identification, and checklist creation
- Drafting and proofreading assistance for contracts, legal opinions, and other documents
- Internal memoranda and task organization
- Organization, search, and summarization of case records and materials
- Legal research assistance including statutes, case law, and literature
- Other reasonable uses determined in consultation with clients
4. Selection of AI Services
Our firm evaluates AI services comprehensively, including reviewing their terms of service and specifications, particularly regarding data handling (storage, reuse, training purposes, etc.), before selecting appropriate services for our work and implementing necessary settings. Specifically, AI services used for professional work are limited to business-grade services that our firm has approved with consideration for reliability and security.
5. Handling of Client Information and Personal Data
When inputting information into AI systems, our firm handles client confidential information, personal information, and personal data in strict compliance with confidentiality obligations and applicable laws and regulations.
6. Respect for Copyright
Our firm exercises due care to avoid infringing upon third-party copyrights and other rights with respect to both information input into AI systems and content generated by AI.
7. Verification of Output and Responsibility
All documents and information generated by AI are reviewed, verified, and modified by the responsible attorney exercising independent professional judgment before use. Final responsibility for all work product of our firm rests with our attorneys.
8. Consultation Regarding AI Usage
While our firm’s use of AI is intended to ensure work quality and security, we may discuss and consider the scope and method of AI usage based on client preferences and the nature of specific matters. Please consult with your assigned attorney if you have any questions or concerns.
9. Organizational Framework
Our firm conducts ongoing internal training and develops rules to deepen understanding of fundamental AI knowledge and associated risks.
